Back at it
Not back to blogging -- dunno if I'll get back to writing consistently. I was writing mostly out of frustration due to the long comeback from injury and not getting to race for so long. Wanted to remember what it was like. But I am back to training well and racing (reasonably) well; except for a broken arm a few weeks ago, everything's going great. I'm now at that point of the season (maybe it's because the rising temperatures?) when I start to feel almost too good...when injuries no longer feel like they're looming, and I feel like I can keep my foot down and keep training harder and longer. Just gotta avoid getting carried away...
Skipping my first race. Was going to run Broad Street 10 miler in Philly the second weekend of May, but with the broken arm I decided it wasn't worth it. I already had doubts since it was really early -- it was just going to be a rustbuster -- and the broken arm set me back a week and the doubts started to fester. Sometimes it's good to push through those doubts. Were it a race I had been peaking for all season, there's no way I would skip it. But sometimes it's good not to force it. Happy to stay in base phase longer and wait until June for my first real race (10k -- maybe 5k? -- in Portland).
